Rate my fantasy baseball draft.?
Rather than rate your whole draft player by player, we will point out the picks where we would have gone differently:





First off R1 and R2 you did awesome for picking 8th, good foundation in several ROTO categories for both hitting and pitching.





R3 Papelbon was not the best closer to choose. He has had two great years, but okajima can replace him if he shows signs for wear, not to mention Boston has the tendancy to beat up on teams and lowers the amount of save chances.





R7 Brad Lidge. Since the 05 world series Lidge has not been himself. Philly will give him more save chances but if Tom Gordon couldnt succeed their, what chance does Lidge have. Todd Jones, Hoffman, Jenks if available would have been better picks here.





Your hitters as a whole consist of a lot of players who may not start on a consistent basis and lack power and speed. With Hunter and Utley you have a great base for those stats, but no backup plan if they go down. Melky, Youk, Teahen were good last year and not bad for late rounders, but your lineup isnt going to win you a league.





Lackey and Oswalt were there because everyone else was drafting hitters. In the 8th spot you draft and hitter and with the wrap around pick take a pitcher.





Kouz, Young, and Pedroia are all young talent and may or may not put up big numbers. Young is also a bit on the fragile side. You will get lots of hits and maybe some runs but batting average and hrs will be few and far between.

Reply:This is not a good team. You took everyone much earlier then neccessary with the exception of Utley, Peavy, Lackey, and Oswalt.
Reply:horrible draft. utley is the only decent pick. papelbon in the 3rd round is ridiculous. NEVER take relievers before the 10th round. even in a 12 team league. you shouldnt have taken a sp in the second round, hitters are more of a sure thing. oswalt is overrated. i can't even comment on others, just a miserable draft all around. i hope you make smart trades and work the waiver wire well. sorry to be so harsh, but its just a miserable team.
Reply:You went and stayed early on pitchers. By doing that you will suffer in all categories on offense. Matter of fact u might lead in only saves and nowhere else. So this team will finish in bottom 3 of a standard 12 team roto league.

you have no offense. you would probably finish last in nearly every offensive catergory. you should never take a closer that high. hunter in the 4th is insane....he is probably the 40th best out fielder. kouzmanoff in the 9th is insane. you could have gotten him in the 20th. dimitri young, probably should not have been drafted. dustin pedroia is a bum, look at his minor league numbers, the only thing that he has to offer is an average. you hould not take two cathers.

Reply:This team isn't nearly as bad as everyone is saying, now it isn't that great either. First two rounds were good. Papelbon is a stretch in the third a round where I usually grab my catcher. Martinez, Martin, or Mauer. 4th round I would've gone with another position player or a top SP if any were left. Lackey and Oswalt are good picks, but leave you light on hitting. Lidge is a risky pick and since you already took Paps I would have waited before takin another closer. Hardy and Kouz are risky picks with above average upside. Loney or maybe Helton was probably still availible when you took Young who had a good year but won't repeat. The next five picks are great. Youk isn't bad but isn't great either this is where you should start picking up those prospects like Votto. Okajima, Neshek, and Bell are great if your league counts holds. Shoppach............what were you thinking???????. Willits, I have him in a keeper but won't see much time barring an injury or trade. Teahen is the ultimate sleeper for this year. Molina is better than Shoppach....weird.


Don't get too down on yourself you made some very good picks. Just might want to have a strategy ready to make sure you have some solid offensive players so those risky picks can payoff.
Reply:not a bad draft at all. i thought you took kouzmanoff a bit early though. i'm also not sold on jj hardy yet. he had a hot start last year and then cooled off. you have awesome pitchers though. those relievers should keep your ERA and WHIP low. utley is a stud. i think you got a steal in youkilis that late. your only weak spot is the OFs.

Only three SP is not enough. Even with the high quality that they are, they simply won't put up enough Ks and Ws on their own.








A lot of your early hitters are reaches. Round 4 is too high for Hunter. Hardy will not repeat last year's power numbers. Kouzmanoff and Dm. Young don't have the high potential that some others in the 9/10 round would.








I like the late picks with Melky, Youkilis, and Willits. They are some value where you got them.








I like the non-closer RPs. I like to get the ones who get wins without eating up innings off the inning limit.
Reply:I think your overall draft is pretty good. You should have grabbed a Catcher early as those are slim pickings.
Reply:That is pretty bad i'm not gonna lie you have a couple of pitchers but no batting besides utley and melky. Good luck that is going to be a fun league for you but keep your head up you never know who will be good this year.
