Fantasy Baseball Trade Help (10 Player Trade)?

Okay, obviously the season has not started yet, but i already got offered a 10 man trade...





I Get: Sea C Kenji Johijma, StL 1B Albert Pujols, Ari SS Stephen Drew, NYY OF Bobby Abreu, and Bos SP Daisuke Matsuzaka





I Give: Cle C Victor Martinez, Hou 1B Lance Berkman, Atl SS Edgar Renteria, Atl OF Andruw Jones, and TB SP Scott Kazmir





Thoughts? Obviously this is a trade that could make or break my team this year, so i was seeking outside opinions.

I think that you should do it. You get the best player in fantasy for someone ranked about 75, when you think about it. Drew is going to be about equal statistically to Renteria. Kasmir is definetly good, but you get someone at least as good as him, and maybe even one of the best pitchers in the league since he is still an unknown. Martinez and Jones are obviously better than Abreu and Johjima, but you mentioned Abreu's contract year, but there is one huge reason why you should go for it: Albert Pujols. The guy is a lock for 55, 145, and .330. Right there, considering you have at least three 20-homer guys, you're all set in power numbers and you have a huge advantage right off the bat (no puns intended) in terms of average (actually, a pun was intended). But anyway, you're not losing any speed, and you're gaining power. Good luck bragging once your opponents realize the can't possibly catch you in the middle of August.

Drew %26gt; Renteria +win for you


Abreu = Jones Wash. (depends if you want more rbis or more steals I consider them pretty equal in value)


Matsuzaka %26gt;Kazmir (matsuzaka is on a better team and seems to be a very strong pitcher) he will also love the additional run support





So this is a 3 you 1 even 1 loss trade.





Thats a +2 value and a great trade for you. Your only main loss is your catcher which you should be fine enought. You will make that up with Puhlos and drew on that one.

C-Johjima would be a step down from Martinez. But Johjima could be a top 5 C.


1B-Pujols obviously the best in the game, but Berkman is not too far behind.


SS-Drew could be a big improvement, but who knows? Just a rookie. Worth a gamble, though.


OF-Abreu and Jones are basically a wash.


P-Every player analysis says Kazmir has a bright red flag (injury risk), so he's a guy I'd be very leery of. Dice-K could be a top 10 pitcher, or he might just be average. I'd go with Dice. (I think this part of the offer is the clincher)





Overall, I'd say it's pretty balanced for both sides. I think you'd be giving up slightly more, but Pujols and Dice are too good to give up, especially for Kazmir. You'd be safe either way.
Reply:I would not have made the trade yet. I play to and it's too early. I try and give it a month or two before I assess my team and needs. Overall though the trade seems like a coplete wash...





I do however think you gave up too much in A Jones, and Kazmir. Daisuke is a sexy pic this year and I worry about him adjusting to America Baseball-Not too mention the grind over 162 games. Good luck with it
Reply:it looks like a good trade at first glance. i guess it all comes down to if you have other home run hitters on your team or not. if you have other decent power i would defitly do it. if not, i dunno

Catcher


Johjima is a good option, but a step down from V-Mart. Look for Johjima to take some strides this year, but overall this is at least a slight downgrade.





1B


So you know this, but it's a massive upgrade to go from Berkman to Pujols, despite how good Berkman is. Pujols is just that good. His power is better, average is better, and he even throws in a few SB. Big win. Ultimately, this makes the trade.





SS


Probably a wash. I suspect Drew ultimately puts up better stats, though. Bigger upside, bigger downside. You know what you get with Renteria, and it's not all that impressive. I'd prefer Drew.





OF


Another slight downgrade. Abreu is a five tool guy, but Andruw is a bit better at this point. His power numbers are just really good. Abreu is not too much of a downer at all, though. Should be solid.





SP


Underrated, but another key to the trade. Dice-K is going to be really good this year. Kazmir is showing alarming signs of rapid decline. Look at his second half splits last year -- not good. Couple that with the injury, and he's a big risk. I'd prefer Matsuzaka hands down.





So you take slight downgrades at OF and C, but BIG steps in 1B and SP. Wash (or slight upgrade) at SS. This one is a coup for you.

Reply:Ok this trade is better for you. I don't usually believe in big trades for the make-or-break that can happen to your team. Martinez is the better catcher but, Johijma is good too. He will produce this year but, not as much as Martinez. Pujols is amazing he is the number one player in fantasy baseball. He is way better than Berkman. Drew is actually better than Renteria. Drew will produce more this season and I'd rather have him on a team than Renteria. Jones is the better OF but, not by much. But, Abreu gets you steals and that is a tough category to have in a league. The better SP is Dice-K. He will be the ROY and will pitch the No. 2 spot for the Sox. He is on a stronger team so you can expect more wins than Kazmir. Yet Kazmir is good I like Dice-K better.

Andruw Jones = Bobby Abreu they will both have good years





Daisuke Matsuzaka the way hes pitching hes much better than Scott Kazmir





and Albert Pujols for Lance Berkman is a joke

Reply:it's probably a decent trade but it's too risky to make that kind of deal this time of year. Make a counter offer and throw some of the guys out because if the guys you get in this trade don't do as good, your toast for the season.





He'll probably reject this but make an offer something like this.





Pujols and Abreu for Berkman and Jones





That one is risky as well but you never know. It's up to you.
